Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Charters/Fishing

  • Can we book groups larger then six?

A second vessel is most always available to take larger parties.
  • Do we fish in bad weather?

Our charter boats are hard tops with drop-curtains so we are able to fish in most any weather. Cancellations due to high winds may be possible at the Captain's descretion. We do not consider rain to be bad weather... the fish are already wet. Most often times, the captain will call at least three days ahead of your scheduled trip to discuss the weather with you for your upcoming charter.
  • What is time of Departure?

Our morning charters normally depart between 5 and 6 am depending on the time of year. Our 6hr afternoon charters depart around 2pm.
  • Are our charters dock to dock?

No. We base our charter rates/time on total time spent fishing, rods in the water. Your time does not start until all rods are set or you hook up with your first fish whichever comes first. In other words, even if we have to motor the "extra mile" your time does not start until rods are set and does not end until rods are out.

Charters will end before chartered length of time if daily catch limit is reached.
  • Are alchohol and cigarettes allowed on boats?

We do allow you to smoke cigarettes/e-cigs etc. on our vessels however we ask that you stand on the back deck when doing so. Alchohol is permitted on board but we ask that you don't get too carried away. No illegal substances are allowed onboard any vessel at any time! If found, you shall be reported immediately and your trip will be terminated. ZERO TOLERANCE.
  • Is COVID affecting charters for 2023?

    All charters are operating normally.

General Questions

  • What should I bring with me?

    • Ny State fishing license (age 15 and under not required)
    • Seasonally appropriate clothing (depending on weather and time of year)
    • Drinks and food for while you're onboard
    • Cooler to bring home your catch
    • Sunglasses, camera, sunscreen (lotion)
We strongly prefer no spray/aerosol sunscreen or bugspray as it can get on the deck, equipment and lures.
  • How do I prepare my catch to bring home?

At the end of every trip fish are cleaned the way you like and bagged for you free of charge!
  • What amenities are included with lodging?

    Our lodging includes:
Full kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, upstairs loft, DirectTV, a fire place and a huge back deck with a propane grill & picnic table!
  • What if your lodging is booked already?

If our lodging is already booked, we work with two other local places with similar lodging and price ranges!
  • What is Northeastern Sportfishing cancellation policy?

We allow our clients to cancel up to 14 days before a scheduled trip. The option is given first to rebook and if not, your deposit will be refunded. If we cancel due to weather, your deposit will be refunded. The exception to the 14 day rule is if there is a family emergency of some sort - such as a death in the family or a current hospitalization of a family member. We do understand things happen in life.
